Technical support missions : Our approach
The groups most affected by the three diseases, known as “key populations,” often suffer discrimination as well, and have limited access to prevention services, care and treatment. Their inclusion in programs battling the diseases is one of the keys to succeeding in eradicating the three pandemics.
ESTABLISHING CROSS-CUTTING ACTION
In line with the Global Fund's new priorities and the overall dynamic of integration in the fight against the three pandemics, most of our experts have been mobilized around health systems strengthening. For example, in 2017, 24% more days of expertise were devoted to this theme compared to the previous year.
SUPPORTING THE INVOLVEMENT OF VULNERABLE POPULATIONS
Key populations are the population groups most affected by diseases. To improve their access to health services often hampered by discrimination and criminalization, the 5% Initiative works at promoting their inclusion in both defining and implementing Global Fund programs. We also support networks representing key populations and vulnerable groups.
